Everything about this song has got me playing it on repeat.

When I was younger my mom did a lot of cross stitching, so it holds a very dear place in my heart. When I found out about Sarah Bonk Stitches I had to have my own home state stitch to display in my room. It’s a welcome addition to other stitchings from my childhood. Psssst – stay tuned to win one for yourself!

I’m hoping that Alex Turner didn’t write the original version of this song this way on purpose in order to spare his listeners. This cover by Hozier is so pretty it’s painful. The lyrics already got to me but when sung this way … oh man. I may have cried the first time I heard it. Okay, I did. I actually did.

This is less of a poem and more of a passage, but it’s too good not to share. Here’s to all the strong, intelligent, independent women who refuse to settle. And be sure to read the title, ’cause that’s really good, too.

I love BBC Radio one! There are always so many perfect covers. You’re right, this cover is pretty haunting. Also… I love that Pippi Longstocking quote.

“It’ll feel like loving a hurricane.” Beautiful and painfully honest. There are those strong enough to accept who we are and love us for it not despite it.
