New York Day 01: Reacquainting.

I arrived in New York at 8:30am yesterday morning. I’m here visiting my best friend from college whom I haven’t seen in a few years. We spent the morning drinking mimosas and catching up as we are both terrible at keeping in touch. I had no idea she recently started a new job, where she lived, or who she’s been spending time with. She knew equally little about my life lately. Needless to say, the catching up took hours and is still underway.

We wandered around her neighborhood in the Financial District yesterday and ran a few errands to pick up things that I forgot to pack (typical). After a few hours of walking around the city in the beautiful 50 degree weather – hey! That’s a huge improvement over Grand Rapids right now – we went back to her apartment and spent the evening laughing at cute animal videos until we cried. This should not surprise anyone that knew us back in 2005/2006.

We woke up this morning to a winter storm warning and found cover in a wine bar a block away from Hypatia’s work for a lunch/work date. So here I sit, blogging, Merlot on hand, 400 Lux by Lorde playing overhead. No complaints, my friends. No complaints.

Always good to be reunited with a friend…but it’s so easy to lose contact….;(

What lipstick brand/color are you wearing? I’ve been looking for something in that shade that wouldn’t be overpowering on my fair complexion, and that shade is absolutely gorgeous on you!

  3. Love the pop of color and that bag is amazing! <3

I’m terrible at keeping in touch with friends, but it’s such a great feeling to reconnect for hours on end. While you never really know much about the day-to-day in their lives, it’s so special to laugh together, as is no time has passed.

PS – the outfit rocks. I love the purple with the black and how the colours contrast.
