The Kitchen.

It’s been quite some time since I did a post including home updates. Today I have some updated images of the kitchen to share with you! In this room, I really wanted everything to feel clean and lighthearted, so I chose a color scheme of turquoise, shades of vibrant greens, a touch of mustard, and a backdrop of gray.
New additions to this room since moving in: updated lighting, barn wood ceiling, new refrigerator/dishwater, and lots and lots of paint.

This table is the one that my family owned when I was growing up. It has sentimental value to me and I was thrilled when my mom asked if I wanted to keep it. I updated the original oak by staining the top with a walnut finish and painting the base white.

I love the black hardware on your yellow cabinets! It looks so chic! You definitely have an eye for design Kaylee!
Incredible ceiling!
I can’t believe that’s the same kitchen based on what I saw in the before pics. The ceiling really changed the whole space. I like it
Looks warm and inviting. I love all the unique touches, and you plate collection is especially beautiful.

I love your kitchen! So warm and inviting!
Your kitchen is gorgeous, Kayley!
My goodness! What a beautiful kitchen!!
You’ve done a fabulous job, my dear.
I love that ceiling!! It sounds like such a simple question, but how do you do that? Is that old, re-purposed wood or did you stain new wood to look rustic?
It is old barnwood nailed over the existing ceiling!
What paint color did you use – I love it! And did you install the barn wood ceiling yourself? I’d love some how-tos on how you decorate!
I love your style, Kayley! Would love to read/see more about your views on interior design and updates on your house. Greetings from Finland.
I really like how you are slowly adding pieces, and I love the homely feeling.
How did you do that ceiling? I am in love.
It was quite the process! First we had to find all the studs and then nail the boards according to where they would be best anchored. There was a lot of sawdust and splinters involved.
Hey Kayley, your kitchen is stunning! It’s great that you were able to adopt your dining room table, what a nice piece to hold on to.
I have a curious question though… do you do anything for ventilation above your stove? I’m looking into an island stove for my kitchen, but loathe the idea of an enormous hood. How are you able to get around the necessity?
You spend quite some time and energy decorating the room.
