Keeping it casual.

One thing that I think makes a cool weather casual look successful is layering. It’s so easy to just throw on a top and jeans, but just the simple addition of a cardigan and scarf really made this outfit complete. I put on some colorful lipstick to add some polish, and I was good to go!
You can find a tutorial on how I tied my scarf here.

Any tips for how to knot your scarf like that? It looks perfectly casual-yet-intricate.
(I am in LOVE with your braided scarf tutorial–I refer back to it all the time!)
I’ll do a tutorial soon!
Yes! I’d love a video lesson on this one. I’ve been using the braided knot tutorial you showed last year to impress all my friends.
Thanks!
Yes, I saw the way that scarf was knotted and immediately went to the comments to ask for a tutorial! Looking forward to it!
Does anyone know the original month the bradied scarf tutorial was posted as I just can’t seem to find it in the archives or the search. Thanks!
I really wish I was wearing this right now – dress up clothes on a rainy Monday just feel…wrong.
Are your ankles cold? I wore boots today instead of flats to save my ankles from frost bite.
You are entirely correct. By adding one more layer, you bump it from Casual to Just Right.

Nope! It’s been in the 60s and 70s the past few days.
I really love the way you tied your scarf!
This is what I love about colder weather: the layers. It’s so much easier to get dressed and feel good about your outfit when you can just keep throwing on different layers. I love it and I love this outfit

You always make casual look so good! I love the knotted scarf, too. Your braided scarf tutorial changed my life (or at least the way I wear scarves, haha).
Please! Tell me where to find the tutorial on how to tie that knot in your scarf. I love it!
Your pictures are seriously the best. I can tell the weather was gloomy but the picture still looks beautiful. I mean obviously I come here for the outfits too, but…just wanted to mention the photog skills!
Sarah’s Real Life (pssst! Gems & Jam giveaway in progress…)

I recently came across your blog from a tagged post on Gap’s FB page, you now have a new fan! I love your simple and super cute outfit pairings! How did you tie your scarf in today’s post?? I feel like I’m all thumbs when trying to tie my scarfs…
Very nice outfit. I wear nothing but casual. These pics make me very excited to be growing out my hair. It probably won’t reach the same length as yours in about two years, but at least I can have some fun with whatever stage it’s at as it gets there.
I love how you knotted that scarf!

Love this whole look! It’s so chic, but casual at the same time. You have to tell me how you tied your scarf, though. It looks so good with the rest of the outfit!

It will be posted tomorrow!
Your scarf knot is adorable! So cute.

Hi! your scarf is adorable. Where did you get it or what kind of material is it? I need a medium weight scarf… all mine are super lightweight or chunky knit!
It’s a pashmina!
love your nail polish! who’s it by?
I’m really sorry but I don’t know. It’s a random brand that I picked up and I can’t find the bottle.
I love the bag in this photo. Who makes it? I checked out the options but like the one in your photo best. I have been looking for a purse like this.
It’s by ESprit. I bought it back in 2009 when we were in Salzburg!
I love this scarf! I have been looking for this exact material and color! Where did you get it? What material/color is it?
Thanks!
I got it at a small boutique in Ann Arbor, MI. It’s a traditional pashmina!
I LOVE shirt you have on here!! The stripes of camo are perfect.
