Happy Halloween! For this look I wanted to incorporate the traditional orange and black color scheme, but I was afraid it would become too theme-y, so I added a scarf to break it up.
I purchased this faux leather jacket at a boutique called Pitaya last weekend while visiting Ann Arbor. Anytime I’m in the area I am sure to stop in and check out what they have in stock! This jacket immediately caught my attention. The quilted detail felt really special to me, and I also really loved the fact that it didn’t have a collar. I was with my mom at the time and she mentioned that it’s a little different than what I normally wear and that sealed the deal for me. I had to have it! To tone down the edginess, I added a bootcut pair of jeans and these Briony Bow Earrings from Poshlocket. I thought it added the perfect mix of classic and girly so it still felt like “me”.
If ever you see something that you are really drawn to but feel like it doesn’t match your fashion aesthetic, don’t stress about it. If you can think of a couple ways to style it off the top of your head, it’s still a good purchase. It’s these types of buys that will help you evolve. Don’t feel like you have to pigeon-hole yourself into one style of clothing! Who knows – this might be the start of a new edgier version of myself!

when i think edgy wardrobe, i think danielle. there was an earlier outfit that i thought looked a bit daniellengerman-y to me, too. she’s having an influence on you!
Really nice pairings! The scarf really accomplished what you were working towards – subtle Halloween. I recently purchased a black faux leather jacket from Forever XXI. It has sequins on the shoulders. A little outside my typical “comfort zone”, but I think it is going to be my favorite jacket. Great advice for evolving personal style, Kayley!
I love the black and orange combo but it is even better with the mixed in scarf! Lovely outfit. Happy Halloween.

Great jacket! There’s a Pitaya here in Indianapolis too. I always like stopping in. They have great designer-inspired bags too! In case you needed another reason to shop…

The jacket is killer and that scarf detail…i love it! i have one exactly the same
Super cute earrings Kayley!
That jacket is great! I’ve been on the hunt for something similar.
I’ve noticed that you’ve been getting edgier as well. Though, to me, a black leather jacket is a classic, especially a lovely, quilted one like this. Like a Chanel bag!
I don’t think I have a fashion aesthetic per se, more of a fashion philosophy. I’m very eclectic, so I try to buy pieces I really LOVE, as long as they will work with 2-4 pieces I already own. Funky, classic, modern, wild, vintage, doesn’t matter- as long as I love it and can fit it in with my wardrobe without having to buy an outfit around it.
love this look, kayley! you look gorgeous!!
Very pretty! Love the colors of your scarf, and your earrings are super cute.

I like the scarf you added. I went with full on aggressive orange and black for Halloween.
