Awhile back I featured this look in my “Fancy-like” post and promised a tutorial. It took awhile, but it’s here!

I do a very similar look very often (minus the twist), but this has given me some great ideas! Thanks

Love it!! This is somewhat random but what type of mascara do you use? Your eyelashes always look so great!
Thank you! I use Covergirl lash blast at the base to add some volume and then use the Rimmel London Lycra Lash Extender for the ends to add length!
This is such a pretty style, Kayley. Thanks for the great tutorial!
What brand backcombing brush do you use? Do you have one you recommend?
I have a couple different kinds and like them both! I like the ones with the natural boar bristles the best!
I love this. It looks exactly like how Betty Draper would do her hair. Now I want to engineer a fancy night out so I can try it!
Love this hair do! I’m so envious of anyone with long hair who could do this! Have you got any tips as to how I could do this with shoulder length hair? Would I just have to tie the my hair up a little lower than what you did?
yep! just tie it a little lower and use a lot of pins!
oh i just love this hair sytle. thanks so much!
I am terribly uncoordinated when it comes to styling my hair. It is tricky for me to work on what I can’t see. I’ll have to sit down and practice and see if I can manage this one. It is really pretty!

Love this one– Very “Mad Men”! Keep the tutorials coming; they’re super helpful
This is just making me want my long hair back! Grow, hair – grow!
the hairstyle tutorials are my favorite part of your blog! thanks for sharing them! (p.s. I also loved the scarf-tying tutorial, so more like that would also be great. maybe you could do a whole tab for tutorials, to make them easy for us to re-visit)
you can find them in the “beauty” tab in the left sidebar!
I love your hair tutorials! Even though my hair doesn’t always cooperate with me when I wanna try them out…
This is such an elegant hairstyle that can be worn formally or casually! I would pair this hair with a polka dot boatneck sweater (like the one from Old Navy) & skinny jeans, with leopard flats and cat eyes/red lips for fall
Thanks for the tutorial – they are always so well made.

What was that powder(?) that your sprinkle in your hair before you start? I tried to replay it a couple of times but can’t quite get what you’re saying.
it’s Big Sexy Hair Powder Play! I use it in almost every one of my tutorials.
