After this afternoon’s Target run, I decided to take some shots of new happenin’s around the Heeringa house. Now that we are more settled I’m tweaking things a bit, and that includes spicing a couple rooms up with some more fun pieces!
New lamp shades! They are available at Target. Online listing here.
We bought this sign from a guy who tears down barns and then sells the wood. This sign is actually from an old factory that was named after the owners, the Bliss family. I refinished it, and it’s the perfect addition to our living room!
New mirror that I bought at an antique fair! It has an acid wash finish with fabric peeking through. I still can’t believe how well it matches our bowling pins and painted dresser!
Finally found a spot for our scratch map! Can’t wait to slowly scratch off more and more places …
From the garden.
New half bath decor! The candle lantern is from Home Goods and is full of handmade soap. The horse is from Target.
Lots and lots of flowers!
These aren’t home related … but check out my new shoes! You can get a pair here.
Outdoor pillows from Target.
The flowers in my milk can are freshly watered and growing like crazy. Also, my affinity for cute animals will never die. Concrete owl above, ceramic cow creamer (currently used as a vase) below.
I’m so excited to be bringing color into more rooms of my house. These little pops throughout make me feel so happy! I hope you are all loving your living spaces, and working to make them feel like home!

kayley, your house is so tastefully decorated! I hope one day my house can look like yours
The story about the “Bliss” sign is fantastic; my mother’s maiden name is Bliss, and she has a very rich family history….odds are I’m somehow related to the previous owners of said sign!
Looks wonderful!

A scratch map?! That might be the coolest idea I’ve ever heard of. Where is your bookcase/cabinet combo from? Or are they built-ins? Thanks!
The scratch map is from Z Gallerie and the book shelf and cabinet are built ins. They flank our fireplace!
Oh my , those lamps are so gorgeous. I love that pattern! And your house looks so cozy and just like my dream house. I love the bright colors and the feel. Like a little cottage beach house. Anyway, it looks really lovely. Great job decorating! I love you and your blog btw, you are just a doll.

What a lovely post! Such great accessories, esp the bowling pins and mirror! Love the side table next to your chaise — is it a vintage piece? Have one just like it that belonged to my parents.
it is! It was my in-laws. I painted it the same color as the dresser.
