Today I am back for my second installment in my “Why You Should Own” series. Didn’t know this
was going to be a series? Hm, me either. Regardless, I’m eventually going to run out of wardrobe staples,
but I’m still going strong for now.
I have two silk (like) blouses in my closet. I say silk (like) because neither are silk or pretend to be silk,
I just didn’t really know how else to catagorize these guys. One is a solid, and one is a pattern, and
I love them both. Kai on the other hand, calls my patterned blouse my “Grandma Shirt”. So uhhh …
if you’re trying to lure men, this blouse might not be the best bait. Fortunately, I already have my man
so all he can do is complain, but love me anyway.
The thing that I love about my blouses is their versatility. They look good with skirts, jeans, and dresses.
They can be tucked in, left untucked, or tied up. They can be layered over other clothing, layered
under other clothing – AND they can be worn in warm and cool weather.

And then my recent day to evening look:
Solid blouse from LOFT , Patterned blouse from Gap.
I hope this gives you some inspiration to wear the blouses you already own, or to pick one up this spring!

Oh yay! I’m so glad you’re doing another one of these posts. I’m in the process of putting together good staples in my closet (got my chambray shirt last week). I’ve got the perfect blouse and I want to try it with some great layering. Love love love the sweater and skinny jeans look above. You’re awesome!
This has nothing to do with your post, but I have to say – thank you.
). A shirt over a dress, different shades of blue and green – it made me feel beautiful and creative, and that’s very much thanks to you. I still have work to do (I need patterns!!!), but even with boring outfits, I’ve learned to get fun jewelry, scarves, belts, etc, to make a simple outfit more standout-ish.
For inspiring me. It wasn’t long ago that my wardrobe consisted mostly of Bootleg jeans, solid shirts, and black, gray and brown sweaters. And that’s what I would wear everyday. But during the past 6 months, I’ve been undergoing a transformation, which came out yesterday, when I wore an outfit I would never in a MILLION years have worn before reading your blog (all the way through.
So thank you, and keep up the good work!
aw, thank you, rebecca! and congratulations on branching out in terms of your personal style. it’s hard to do but worth it in the end. so glad you felt beautiful!!
I am glad you opted to make these a series because I love all the ways you have paired this top! (and the chambray one too!)
