When I got dressed this morning, I wasn’t originally planning on blogging the outfit. Why? Well, because
I just wore these pants last week. And because I thought it was too simple. As the day went on, I
decided “Psh! Who caaaares if it’s simple? Who says simple outfits can’t be fashionable?” I am here
to say they can be. Despite what the blogging world seems to portray, you don’t need to be wearing a
million articles of clothes in interesting ways in order to have a great outfit. Sometimes all it takes are
a couple of special pieces worn at the same time and you will look effortlessly chic.
As I said before, I wore these pants last week. After I did my post featuring these vibrant babies, I saw
this post on WhoWhatWear featuring bright pants! Check out this article for some more inspiration.
I think a stand out item of clothing, such as these pants, can really carry an outfit on their own. When
putting together this ensemble, I kept it really simple by adding the striped button down and neutral
accents. After looking through these pictures I’m noticing I kind of have the primary colors going on,
which, when used tastefully, can be a really strong combination.

A beautifully done, simple outfit! Love it!
Hey there,
I’ve been following your blog for a few months now and I have got to say you have such pretty and classy taste. I really enjoy popping over here a few times a week to see what’s new.
I read recently that you bought the chambray perfect shirt from j.crew and that $60. for a top was a huge, but worth it splurge for you. I was so happy to see you have it too because I’m always looking for new ways to style it. Annndddd… $60. is also a lot for me to spend on a top. You seem to have a lot of great clothing and I’m really interested in how you stay so current without spending a lot. I know working at Gap offers quite a helpful discount… because I, too worked there…. but I’ve noticed you don’t have exclusively Gap clothing. So what are your tips and secrets for dressing well and not breaking the bank?
Hi Eleanor! Thanks for de-lurking! I have to admit, most of my clothing is purchased using my Gap discount. That job is a second job for me and I basically spend what I make (considering I work once a week, it’s not much). Aside from that, a lot of my clothes are from outlets, because of the discount. For example, it’s far more likely to see an item from the J.Crew Factory Store than the J.Crew store on Sidewalk Ready. That chambray top was purchased at the factory store as well, but was still $60. I knew it would be worth it because I had been looking for a chambray shirt for some time and this one really fit what I was searching for. That being said, a LOT of my clothes are years old. The shirt in this post is from two years ago – but it still works because it is CLASSIC. That is huge! Especially since it was purchased full price at J.Crew, which is something I NEVER do. I honestly think this is the only item I’ve ever purchased there that wasn’t on sale. The reason I bought it was because I was returning a gift and Kai loved it – that was enough to convince me. I think it is so important to buy things that will stand the test of time. If I am looking to buy something trendy, that’s when I turn to store like Target, Forever 21, etc. because I realize that I probably won’t be wearing it for more than a year. I hope this helps!
Love the outfit. Those pants are awesome!
Simple is perfect
And you definitely don’t look simple!! You are so pretty in this look. The shoes are so sweet and the necklace is so pretty and gives a little sparkle to the outfit.
I love simple outfits. Sometimes, they stand out more than busy outfits.
Love those shoes!
I’m so happy you posted this! I love this outfit
Definitely one of my favorites

I totally, totally agree with you as far as simple-is-still-great-styling…sometimes I feel like the blogging world pressures budding stylists to wear designer labels and crazy, avant-garde, complicated outfits. Your ensemble here is so chic and darling–and looks perfectly put together!

hellloooooo, you are SIDEWALK READY! i can’t speak for your other readers, but I for one stop by here to see your “simple”, everyday, ready to wear outfits. Other bloggers will have a list a mile long of accessories and layers, and that’s not always functional for the 90% of us who…actually move our bodies during the day. Dont hesitate to post your “simple” outfits, I expect that’s what many of us love about your blog- the accessibility of it all. That said… I just got a promo in the mail for GAP’s colored crops. I’m going to have to cave, now that I see how versatile they are.
super cute look! in love with your shoes and bag!

I love your blog and this outfit is definitely one of my top 3 all time favourites.
Orange & blue – perfection. I saw your post and splurged the skinny cropped pant. <3 When I sported the brightly colored pants to school, two of my girls announced that I have "true swag."
