Today’s look is something I hope some of you office workin’ ladies might get a little inspiration from.
Considering the modest length of the this skirt, and the lower heel, I think it’s something that could
pass in an office setting. I’ve never worked in an office, so I’m not the best to advise on this topic but
hopefully I’m not totally off base.
A few re-purposing tricks in this ensemble: a sash from a dress worn as a neck tie and a skinny belt
worn as a bracelet.
Outfit Breakdown:
Wool Coat: Banana Republic / Chambray Shirt: J.Crew Factory Store / Cashmere Sweater: J.Crew
Wool Skirt: J.Crew Factory Store / Belt (worn as a belt): Thrifted / Neck Tie: Sash taken from Loft Dress
Belt (worn as bracelet): J.Crew Factory Store / Gold Link Bracelet: Anthropologie / T-Strap Heels:
Urban Outfitters / Nail Polish: OPI Bagota Blackberry
Hair:
Messy bun. Tutorial Here.
I’m suddenly aware of how many of these pieces were given to me as gifts. Either my family and friends
know my taste perfectly, or I’m really good at dropping hints. In fact, the only items in this outfit that
I purchased for myself are the $2 belt I picked up at Goodwill and the chambray shirt (if you’ve
seen my recent “Why You Should Own a Chambray Shirt” blog post, it’s easy to understand why
I had to have it).
On that note, if you’ve checked out the Ray LaMontagne pandora radio station, it’s easy to understand
why I have to listen to it. You should tune in and then go vote for me in the Refinery 29 blogger
contest!

Would definitely be appropriate in my office! Love the sash-as-neck-tie and skinny-belt-as-bracelet!
I think you’re right on. I work in an office and this would definitely work. I like the pop of mint green!
Until I started blogging about fashion, I didn’t realize how many clothing items I had been gifted! Makes me feel loved.
I voted for you.
i love seeing your gold bracelet!
You and your cute BR jackets…I wish I had snagged up one or two more of them when I used to work there. This one is PERFECT for the office, as is the red one you wore a couple days ago. Love ‘em!
This is such a cute outfit! I love textured pencil skirts and the belt worn as a bracelet is THE CUTEST. I haven’t worked in an office either, but I’m pretty sure this would work and be really stylish as well!

This is a great outfit for work! As a teacher this would definitely work for school as well! And yes, the Ray LaMontagne pandora station is one of my faves– totally agree with you on that!
I am consistently jealous of that chambray shirt, but I just cannot find one that I like on myself!
Love this outfit and, yes, very office friendly. Love the skinny belt as a bracelet idea too!
So much creativity in this outfit…sash as a neck tie, belt as a bracelet…love it! I also love the green color of that belt!
I’m a university teacher and this would be appropriate in my classroom as well!
Your creativity is incredible. This is a great idea for the office! the bow around the collard neck is something I will be trying out very soon! Thanks for the inspiration!
