You can thank Kai for that title. He saw the boring title I was going to use and came up
with this little ditty. Nice job hunny – You’re so funny and punny.
The past few weekends have been so busy. I’ve hardly had time to enjoy the weekends.
I’m bummin’ that the holidays both were over the weekends this year … and also will be
next year. It makes for less time off of work. It actually just occupied the time that I
usually use to catch up on non-work related things. And now I’m just complaining … I
don’t mean to. I do love the holidays. But this whole Christmas and New Years on Saturday
thing just isn’t cutting it for me.
Yesterday, I kept thinking it was Sunday because it was more of a laid back, enjoy the holiday
sort of day. Today kind of seemed like an additional day to my weekend. I spent it with my
family … in my jeans. I hope you guys don’t mind that I’ve featured outfits incorporating jeans
since last Wednesday. I figure these ensembles are are pretty practical considering many of us
wear jeans regularly. The only thing about these casual outfits is that I don’t have a lot of tricks
up my sleeve. What you see is what you get. Today is another one of those days.
This orange sweater and the shirt underneath were two more secondhand items I picked
up from my friend. I own nothing in this orange color, as I am usually attracted to soft
color palettes. I didn’t even know if this color was right for me, but considering what a
great price it was, I couldn’t help myself. I loved the fit and style.
These jeans are one of my favorite pairs … Gap Sexy Boot.
My Dooney & Bourke gem from my mom’s closet.
I loved the buttons on this sweater. It’s one of my favorite details. The material is also
nice and heavy and high quality. When it is buttoned it has a trapeze shape and really
reminds of me Jackie O. Can’t go wrong there! Definitely worth the color risk. In the
end, I love the color. I think it makes it even more unique … and hard to miss. I will
say this: Don’t wear bright orange if you like to blend in. This sweater is like a beacon.
Layne was able to spot me from across the busy mall food court.
The top underneath the sweater is similar to other tops that I own, white and ruffled,
but what makes it different is the tuxedo aspect to it. The sheen in the fabric and the way
the ruffles are placed really remind me of a formal menswear piece.

Something else that I did differently today was my hair. I can’t remember the last time I
curled my hair towards my face, but considering the classic style of my sweater, I thought
I’d give a retro curl a try. I’m really liking this style and I think I would like it even more if
my hair was a touch shorter. To curl your hair this way, simply curl the front sections of
your hair that fall around around your face forward in a spiral. Then curl the rest of your
hair like you would with a roller set … this is kind of hard to describe but I will try. With
a spiral curl you curl the hair so all areas of the hair are directly touching the iron. With a
roller set type curl, you roll the hair directly on top of itself, as if you were using a roller.
This mostly give the ends of the hair body. After my hair was all curled, I sprayed it and
then brushed it out to give it that glamor wave.
Perhaps this will require a video tutorial. Let me know if my typed description made sense
or if you need a visual. Or even if you even care. I might have just typed this all out for nothing.
Great.
Well, I hope these past days have helped you come up with creative ways to wear your jeans. I
am back to work at the salon tomorrow so get ready for some really exciting work outfits. I have
to admit, I’ve enjoyed being able to dress down lately. Wearing skirts and dresses is fun and all
but those outfits take a more creativity a lot of the time. Creativity doesn’t grow on trees, you know!

I need a visual, haha. I’m a really visual person, so written explanations sometimes go over my head. But I love how your hair looks, so I would def be interested in seeing a tutorial of some sort. I happen to love this shade of orange, it’s like a sherbert. It looks great on you, and it really brightens up any outfit. This is my first visit to Sidewalk Ready, (I was browsing on bloglovin’) and I’m so glad I found you!

Creativity doesn’t grow on trees. At least money does.
I liked your hair today!
I love the look and the jeans are great on you- you should do a post on suggestions or advice for jeans that will flatter women with different body types!
I did touch on this topic on october 24 in my “mixing classic patterns and assessing jean styles post”!
Great outfit!
I’d like to see the video tutorial too. I get the difference between the spiral and roller (good description!), but what I don’t get is do you curl all your hair toward your face, or only the spiral-curled portions in front? If the latter, which direction do you curl the other parts?
Under … But once its brushed they will flip in all different directions. I will do a video someday.
I LOVE this outfit. I recently bought an orange sweater from H&M, which almost gave me a heart attack. So seeing you wear orange was quite comforting. Cute hair, too!
I wish I could get my hair to curl like that! Mine is so fine that curling irons, flat irons, anything really is just useless. I love love love that orange sweater, I don’t own anything orange either but I do have a mustard yellow sweater that always adds a pop of brightness.
I think I would look like a glowstick if I wore that sweater, but somehow on you I’m digging it. I think the classic shape helps balance the crazy color.
i love all these hair tips! i’ve been beach-waving my hair just about every other day when i’ve been too lazy to shower and my 2nd-day-hair needs a boost! also tried it in combo with the backcombed and pulled back front (a la NYE post) and received many compliments! thanks for all of the great suggestions/tips!
oh wow!! This looks so gorgeous!!! I love it.
Your hair is beautiful!
My hair doesn’t do anything but is just as straight as yours. The curse of the Asian. Oh well. My hair looks good… straight and straight and straight.
Asian hair is the best! Dark and shiny!
