Pinocchio Syndrome.

In case you were wondering … Yes, I had to look up how to spell “Pinocchio”. We will get
to that in a second.

Today I slept in, and got out of bed completely determined to get my house clean UNTIL
I sat down at the computer and remembered I had some bloglovin’ to catch up on.
Cleaning motivation = gone.

After I completed my blog roll … I decided Christmas decorating sounded a lot more
appealing than cleaning. I hauled my two large boxes of Christmas decor out of the storage
room and got to holidizing (<– new word. It’ll soon be in Webster’s. Don’t worry about
it.) our home. Since we are going without a tree this year *gasp!* I decided to use some of
our forlorn ornaments and wired ribbon on the fireplace instead. Halfway through my
decorating frenzy, I realized it was time for work. I left my house a mess. Open ornament
boxes, fish line scraps, packing tissue, and open boxes strewn about.

Here I sit in the midst of this Holiday tsunami of a living room thinking about how I still
have to finish that tonight … or tomorrow morning … probably tomorrow

Now, before I show you these pictures … I have to say something. I know what you all
may be thinking. “Kayley, didn’t you just wear that lace top, like, three days ago? And those
socks yesterday? I’m also pretty sure I’ve seen that skirt with that scarf before …”

My answer is as follows: Actually, I wore the lace shirt FIVE days ago. Yes, I wore the
socks yesterday. Did I wash them? Probably not. And for the skirt/scarf thing, you can check
out my outfit from this day.

Now here come my Pinocchio reference. You ready?

*Steps on soap box, clears throat*

I AM A REAL GIRL!  I re-wear things! In the same week! Before I’ve washed them! And
sometimes, if I’ve found two things that I like together, I will repeat it!

Please observe:

Look vaguely familiar? That’s okay. I’m a real girl … who forgot to put on my lipgloss. :)

I purchased this belt when I was in high school. Still have it. Still like it. Still wear it.

Outfit Breakdown:
Jacket: Gap / Top: Target / Scarf: J. Crew / Belt: American Eagle / Skirt: J. Crew / Tights: Gap / Socks: Forever 21 / Boots: Gap

I also wore the jacket here. I’ve worn it other times but I don’t always feature outerwear
on my blog.

See other ways I’ve worn this top here, here, and here.

This scarf was featured here and here.

Skirt, here and here.

I lost these tights in the abyss that is Kai’s car but recovered them just last week and
wore them here.

These socks are popular lately, see them here, here, and here.

And my boots, here, here, here, and here.

Well, there you have it. Do you have certain pieces in your wardrobe that you love so much
you feel like you re-wear them constantly? More power to you – How wonderful that
you have found clothes you WANT to wear over and over again. The key is just finding
new ways to style them so you don’t get stuck in a rut!

Your real girl,

Thank you for being a real girl! It’s nice to know some people re-wear their clothes…like me. :]

  2. Kai says:

I love that scarf. I love you too.

Haha, I swear, I would’ve never noticed you were repeating something if you hadn’t pointed it out!

In Chile it’s pretty socially acceptable to wear them same thing multiple times in a week. In college I’d see students who basically had 2 or 3 outfits that they’d just cycle through in the winter. But Chileans reusing their clothes like that is totally freeing! Sometimes I’ll wear the exact same outfit two days in a row (but I still only do it if I’m in a pinch and I know that I won’t be seeing the same people twice).

I find this post to be very entertaining. Those funny lessons really paid off! You should have borrowed my Pinocchio earrings.
